Robin Miller’s Quick Fix Meals

This cookbook has a section called “Morph It.” On the first day, you make a large batch of meat. Roasted Chicken with Smokey Apricot Sauce, for example. Then three “Morph Recipes” are included, all using the main dish cooked in the first day (like Chicken and Mushroom Quesadillas, Thai Chicken Salad with Peanuts and Lime and Chicken Curry with Chickpeas and Tomatoes). This batch cooking saves you time most days of the week, and I find the variety to be good even though you are using the same main component. Worth a try!

Sandi Richard, Eating Forward

Sandi is Canada’s meal planning guru. She has 6 kids, therefore has to be organized! Her concept of Eating Forward means knowing what you are going to have for dinner – at the beginning of the day! Her cookbooks include a weeks worth of meal plans, including shopping lists. I have tried many of the full week plans, and most of the recipes are delicious, although I do modify some to include more whole grains. And the recipes make large portions, so you have leftovers for lunch if you have a smaller family.

Looneyspoons & Crazy Plates

Greta and Janet Podleski are entertaining sisters, you may have seen them on HGTV. They have a series of cookbooks that are healthy and tasty! My favourite recipes include Thai One On (Exotic sweet potato and coconut soup with shrimp) and Touched by An Angel Hair Pasta (Angel hair pasta with roasted bell peppers and basil pesto). Including lots of cooking tips and stories, these cookbooks are also good entertainment.

Oh She Glows by Angela Liddon

This is a vegan cookbook, and every recipe I have tried is delicious! So if you want to include more plant-based meals in your diet, it’s definitely worth a try. The “Double-layer Chocolate Fudge Cake” is my new go-to chocolate cake recipe. So moist!

Whitewater Cooks

Whitewater cookbooks are my go-to when we are having company, or my husband and I have time to make a bit of a fancier meal. Some of the recipes have a few obscure ingredients and take a bit longer to make. But every single recipe I’ve tried is delish! A few of them like The Glory Bowl and Veggie Burgers are available online. Whitewater Cooks at Home and Whitewater Cooks with Friends are excellent too. I have yet to try their newest addition, Whitewater Cooks with Passion, but look forward to it!
