Pregnancy Nutrition

Nourish Mama & Baby Package

Includes 4 meetings with the dietitian, to organize your food and nutrition so that you can feel your best and tone down the stress!

Initial Meeting in a Grocery Store. The grocery store tour is where it starts! We will first sit down for an initial nutrition consultation. I will review your current intake and discuss pregnancy weight gain, foods to avoid, important nutrients & supplements so that you have all of the pregnancy nutrition basics. Then we will take a tour of the grocery store comparing foods & supplements, analyzing those tricky food labels and talking about how to cook kale!

Follow-Up Meeting in Your Home: We will meet about 2 months after the first meeting (depending on how pregnant you are…); this is where the Kitchen Makeover & Meal Planning happens. First we will follow-up on any food, pregnancy and nutrition concerns that have developed since our last meeting (Heartburn? Constipation? Cravings!?). Then we will get into your pantry and fridge to do a bit of a clean up, so that you get rid of the junk and have a good list of basics to stock in your home. Item 3 on today’s agenda: Getting your meal planning system organized – you will need this in the coming months and years to save your sanity guaranteed! I will also leave you with a 1 week pregnancy meal plan to get started.

Phone or Facetime Check-In: At 8 months pregnant, we will schedule a phone call or Facetime chat. At this meeting, we will be talking about preparing for breastfeeding, labour and delivery and postpartum feeding for both mom and babe so that you will be ready to feed yourself and your baby when he or she finally arrives.

After-Baby Phone or Facetime Check-In: 6-8 weeks after your new bundle of joy has arrived, we will schedule another Facetime or phone meeting. Your life has been turned upside down, and your nutrition needs have also changed as a new mom.

Imagine having a nutrition expert to guide you through your whole pregnancy and postpartum period! To help you through your pregnancy struggles, provide evidence-based nutrition advice (which may be in contrast to your doctor or MIL), and help you prepare to breastfeeding and re-stock your nutrient stores after giving birth. You (and your baby) are worth this!

question Who is this for?

While earlier is always better, we can start at any point in your pregnancy. Before 8 months is preferred, otherwise we might not get everything in, but can always modify the package as needed.

question Why work with me?

I have two nutrition degrees (BSc from University of Alberta & MSc from University of British Columbia). As a Registered Dietitian, I am part of the only regulated nutrition profession, regulated by the College of Dietitians of Alberta. I have been working with pregnant, postpartum women and young children for 10 years and have been through pregnancy myself three times!

faq_100px Do you have a cancellation or refund policy?

If you aren’t happy with the service, please let me know what you need from me. If it’s a refund, I will honour that, as I want you to be satisfied (as long as you have already not claimed the service on your health benefits and received reimbursement from them, as that would be insurance fraud).

faq_100px What if I don’t live in Calgary, can we work together virtually?

Yes! We can do everything except the Grocery Store Tour. A virtual package includes the same resources and 4 phone calls or Facetime/Skype calls, for a modified fee of $850.

faq_100px Is this covered by my extended health benefits?

Most extended health benefits do reimburse dietitian services. Check with your plan for the level of coverage. I can’t direct bill, but can accept credit cards and provide a receipt for reimbursement.
