Freezer Meal Planning


Don’t love cooking? Sick of planning 7 dinners a week for your family? Or just sick of the lack of planning for dinners?!

I’m a big fan of freezer meals. Today I’m going to suggest a super-easy meal plan for a week of dinners, using a few frozen meals.

This is the key: every time you make something freezable double the recipe. I’ve linked to few recipes below, but any lasagna, stew, soup, or chili freezes great. It might take 5 extra minutes to double a recipe, and it’s so worth it when you freeze the extras. Do it twice a week, and you can eat 2 “fresh” meals and 2 frozen meals. per week. That means planning just 2 meals a week!

And maybe the other 3 dinners are something like:

  1. Going to a birthday party/eating out,
  2. Your partner cooking or your kid (depending on their age!) cooking,
  3.  Super-easy pantry meal (like pasta and sauce with frozen peas).

To get started with a few meals in your freezer, you can either take a weekend day to cook some double batches or soup, buy something to throw in the freezer or get together with some friends. I’m planning a friend batch-cook soon, and will be sure to share the recipes and process!

Freezer meal ideas

  • Chilli
  • Soups
  • Meatballs
  • Hamburger or veggie burger patties
  • Enchiladas or burritos (any kind – chicken, veggie, beef)
  • Cabbage roll casserole
  • Slow cooker pulled pork or beef
  • Quiche
  • Butter chicken sauce
  • Pasta sauce (tomato, chicken or beef)
  • Lasagne
  • Stew
